A year ago this week, SixDegreesfromDave.com launched after a series of delays and technical guffaws, head scratching bewilderment, and logo design headaches. I was laughing with my friend Greg LeNoue about the time I worried for 2 weeks about Photoshop, emailing back and forth questions while attempting to design a look and feel until I finally had a Ukrainian design team step in. My initial struggles with basic Html were epic, needless to say, I am recruiter not a coder 🙂 But if i had to do it all over again, I would in a heart beat.
My only regret is that a delay of even a few months beyond the original spring of 2006 launch kept me from precious days and months in developing friendships with some of the kindest, most helpful people that comprise the recruitment blogging industry. To blog about, and participate with your peers, and above all to meet them … finding them even more appealing and informative in person … well my compadres, the friendships have been legendary for me, genuinely so. My wife jokes about the animated story telling I have about each and every one of you. You have all become extended family to me. Being a Spaniard, you get sentimental but in earnest for people you value.
Within this past year, “SixDegrees..” arose from relative obscurity to earn the “Most Votes” for Recruiting.com’s Best Recruitment Blog of 2006, presenting a three Part Audio Series for Kennedy Info on Recruitment blogging, developing in-depth feature series such as “Meet… Linkedin Days,” detailing the professional backgrounds and personal observations of Industry leaders, “Voices .. Blogs as Industry Influentials,” or reviews of the latest sourcing technologies and developments, and the ongoing, “International Staffing Perspectives” covering global best practices in Japan, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Slovakia.
I want to thank the following colleagues for their contributions, advise, promotion and motivational support of my blogging efforts: My “Maestro “Shally & Stefi Steckerl, Jason Davis, Gerry “The Godfather” Crispin, Dennis Smith, Recruiting Animal, Glenn Gutmacher, Carl Chapman, Steven Rothberg, Joel Cheesman, Jason Gorham, Jim Durbin, Jim Stroud, Steve Levy, Bill Vick, David Manaster, Anna Brekka, Hans Gieskes, David Perry, Simon Meth, Sean Rehder, TheChad, and Russell Glass …. I do hope one day you will all take me up on my Colorado fishing trip 🙂
Special Kudos to Web Designer Gennie who goes above and beyond in maintaining the site!
I have you, the loyal Readers I call my extended friends, to thank for the inspiration to continue this passion of mine to share Thought Leadership from colleagues I admire, detail the latest observations at prominent Conferences and Industry events, and evangelize social networking and advanced sourcing methodologies. It’s a humbling experience to have people learn from a few random thoughts and all the while I was learning with you. Let’s keep doing it all … together.
