The response has been overwhelming. The support has been overwhelming and the massive freaking out in my brain about the evening in general has been overwhelming.
This coming Thursday night, as far as I know, will be the biggest charity poker tournament the recruiting industry has seen. It looks like 60 players plus will descend on EA in order to raise some money for HopeLab and prove that they are no amateur when it comes to finding out who has got the nuts or not.
Jobster, SimplyHired, ZoomInfo, JobDig, ERE, TheLadders, JobBounty, Yahoo, MyStaffingPro, JobCentral, Monster, HireVue, EA, and Recruiting.com have all agreed to help raise some real money for a charity that Jeff Hunter chose. (Jeff is the guy who is putting on a very interesting get together)
I was originally hoping that we could get about 30 people but it looks like it is much more, perhaps even triple. I am sure there will be some snags along the way in terms of everything that happens but what I do now for sure is this.
The food is taken care of
The drinks are taken care of
The poker tables and dealers are taken care of
The room itself is being taken care of
The music is taken care of
The prizes will be taken care of by the end of the day
Video will be taken care of by the end of the day
All of the other things about throwing a poker tournament/party that I am unaware of I hope will turn out for the best. I am sure it will. I have Sean Rehder and Dave Mendoza really doing an amazing job with all of the recruiters who are coming to play. Thanks guys, no way this would happen without you.
What really is getting me going though is looking at all of the familiar faces who will be betting their stacks that I have nothing every time I raise. It’s all very funny but it’s true. I’ve seen it before. Gerry Crispin can tell you all about it.
See you all in T-Minus 3 days.
