By Shally “Elvis” Steckerl
So “related:” took an extended vacation to sip Mai Tais on the beach, and apparently also got a manicure and pedicure while it was there!
But it’s back now! Yay!
We can now go back to generating lists of “similar” organizations and competitors using this simple command. Its welcomed relief because as Glenn Gutmacher pointed out it takes a bit more work to get this kind of info via other means.
Apparently during its hiatus Google worked on making the related: command more “accurate” or “relevant” so now when you do a search for related:symantec.com it returns more sites like Microsoft, Norton, McAfee, Trend Micro, AVG, CA, F-Secure, Panda, etc. than it did before… theoretically more accurate.
However, I did find that related:symantec.com and related:www.symantec.com still return slightly different results and in a different order. Regardless, I’ve observed improved results in comparison to its previous incarnation so have fun!
