I love but many people can’t/won’t install applications on their desktop and much preferr online solutions. So -here’s a few:

If you come accross a phone number but want to know if its a mobile or land line, and get a reverse lookup, check out PhoneValidator.
I looked up my own (which BTW is Vonage) and I get:
Phone Number:
Date of this Report:
June 12, 2007
Phone Line Type:
Phone Company:
Phone Location:
Directory Assistance Results:
Google Results:

Though its a VoIP it does technically resolve to a land line so that’s correct! I also tried my mobile and it accurately shows AT&T, Atlanta, GA. Kewl!

Then I tried FoneFinder with that same number which has the added advantage of also working on International numbers and this one is WAY cool! You enter an area code, prefix and the first digit of the last quartet. It provides the State, Provider and Telco Type!
Fone Finder
I entered a Zip Code and got the following report:
Description Query Result

Zip Code 30071

Area Code 770

Countyname GWINNETT

State Name Georgia

Timezone GMT-5 hours

Nearest City Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, GA

Population 22220

Avg. House value $117700

Income per household

Note that this provides County, Ciry, Population, average House Value, Average Income and Time Zone! Very useful.
