Louise Triance is the equivalent of a Jason Davis in the American recruitment blogosphere and industry community – “across the pond in her own “UK Recruiter community. Her brand and resources offered are substantial, consisting of the UK Recruiter portal website, blog, organizing networking events for recruiters via the UK Recruiter community, an industry discussion board and weekly email newsletter. She previously worked for a Berkshire based Search & Selection firm for eight years. Louise is British Psychological Society level A & B trained and has experience of wide variety of psychometric and aptitude products as well as development of assessment centers.

Louise at UK Recruiter has created the UK’s first Recruitment Blog Awards. You can read all about it on her blog at and vote for your favorite recruitment related blog of 2007 (or you can go direct to vote here:

Inspired by the Awards contest, Louise has organized something similar for the UK recruitment blog market. As she only decided this yesterday she remarks, “We sadly have no sponsors offering an all expenses paid trip to Vegas (transferring the concept to the UK would that be an all expenses paid trip to Blackpool?!). However, the winner will be able to take away that warm feeling you get when your peers recognize your talent. I’ll also pop a box of Stollen in the post to the winner.”

The world is getting smaller with Big ideas.Amazing how Jason Davis had this little idea to start a recruiting blog portal called which morphed into a community of recruiters and is now on his latest endeavor at which has exploded to nearly 1,000 members of the recruitment industry – now his ideas continue globally in the form of a box of Stollen from Britain’s sweetheart of the recruitment industry.

We all know Louise has been doing this for so many years and developed such an extensive network globally, that she is a celebrity in her own right with much to teach us about the industry she is passionate about and the community building she has developed. Sincerely stated, I am a big fan.

Her site, “UK Recruiter” is an information resource for recruitment professionals operating in the UK. Their objective is to provide the most comprehensive set of information and links for the UK recruitment industry. Louise likes to think of it as creating a community of recruiters and researchers. It is completely free for you to use the site.

UK Recruiter’s main areas of activity are

· a weekly email newsletter
· an industry supplier directory
· a discussion board.

The UK Recruiter newsletter is a free weekly newsletter, delivered by email, keeping search consultants, recruiters and researchers up to date with developments on the Internet. The newsletter covers websites of interest to recruiters along with articles written by industry experts. We also review UK job boards, CV databases and recruitment technologies. You can subscribe at or by emailing

The Industry Supplier Directory is a comprehensive list of companies who provide products and services to the recruitment industry in the UK. It is made up of 20 categories including Job Boards, CV databases, research firms, software providers and recruitment to recruitment consultancies.

The “UK Recruiter” Discussion Forum is a place where you can share ideas and ask for advice from other professionals within the UK Recruitment marketplace. Typically it has 60 to 80 postings per week. It is closely moderated with unsuitable content removed. You can access it from the home page of the site.

Recommendations For Louise

“Louise is an outstanding individual who has been one of the leading lights in the recruitment and HR industries for many years. She has led UK Recruiter to its pre-eminent position as The information source for all agency recruiters and increasingly for the corporate recruiter. Her early adoption of forum technologies opened the gates for frank and honest debate amongst all parties in the industry. She has now grasped the thorny nettle of blog writing with aplomb. I heartily recommend Louise from both a professional and personal side.” (February 7, 2007)

Alan Whitford, Owner, Abtech Partnership

“I have known Louise since 2001 back in the early days of online recruitment. I have admired the way she has built UKrecuiter into the industry’s No.1 source for information, debate and analysis. We have used the site to advertise on numerous occasions and it has always generated fantastic response. She’s is an incredible networker, with a vast array of contacts. She is also a great thinker and very approachable. I would have no hesitation in recommending her to anyone who needs to get a better understanding of the UK recruitment market.” (November 12, 2007). Top qualities: Personable, Expert, Creative

Alastair Cartwright

“Louise is always willing to help on a personal and business level and has created an outstanding recruitment industry resource, which I regularly highlighted to REC members during my tenure there and continue to do so. She has made UK Recruiter the most relevant source of market intelligence and information for recruiters and would recommend to all traditional and online recruiters to visit it regularly and sign up for the newsletter if they want to stay ahead of the game.” (August 8, 2007)

Colin Minto, Joint Owner with Gareth Osborne, Bornto Limited

“Louise has built up a tremendous following of recruiters over at UKRecruiter, with both the forum and newsletter being highly read. Whenever a recruitment client is looking for an answer on a recruitment-related issue, we always send them over to Louise’s website – and are always thanked for doing so. A great resource – headed up by a very hard-working individual” (July 26, 2006)

    Hi Dave,
Glad you connected with Louise. She is, indeed, one of the leading lights in the UK, having led the drive to provide information and an interactive forum for recruiters to air thoughts and queries. By the way, she has just released newsletter no. 338 – an outstanding accomplishment.
